1. What courses will my student take at SES?

2. Will my student be taking college prep courses?
Yes, virtually all of the courses offered at SES are college preparatory courses. They will also be eligible to take college courses within Los Rios Community College District.
3. What electives are available for my student to take?
The electives offered are heavily engineering and science-based because of the specialized focus on engineering and science careers. Your student’s schedule will incorporate job shadowing and community service hours along with an emphasis on engineering and science.
4. Will there be AP courses offered?
There will be AP courses offered at the 11th and 12t h grade level as well as Honors/Advanced courses at the 9th and 10th grade level. AP or Honors classes will not be available in all subject areas.
5. What are the A-G requirements?
The required course sequence at SES meets and exceeds the college entrance requirements for both the University of California and the California State University systems.
6. Will my student need to wear a uniform to school?
Yes, students are required to wear a collared shirt and slacks every day, Monday through Friday. The dress code is strictly enforced and is listed in the SES Parent Handbook.
7. What extra-curricular activities are available to my student?
Your student can participate in Clubs offered on campus such as the Ace Mentoring Program, Yearbook, Student Government, Speech and Debate, Math Club, Science Club, Poetry Aloud and the Gaming Club. They can also participate in our Competition Clubs like First Robotics, Dance Club, Golf, Soccer, Track and Field and Basketball.
8. Is my student able to play sports?
Your student has the option to play CIF sports at their traditional high school through the Small School Sports Agreement. They can also participate in the Intramural Sports Program on campus or any of our Club Teams.
9. What tutoring services are available for my student?
Lunch time and after school tutoring in almost all subject areas is available with each specific teacher. Please see our list of tutoring opportunities in the main office.
10. How can parents get involved with the school?
We encourage parents to come to special parent events, join in classes and student activities, share their experiences and help with the school events and fund raising activities.
