GRADING POLICY
Grades are sent home four times a year along with progress reports every four weeks. Grades are earned on an A-B-C-D-F scale. Citizenship grades are given for conduct, behavior and social skills.
Please see the registrar, Ms. Bethany Carter, or the counselor, Ms. Megan Hill, for questions about schedules, transcripts, classes, course changes, or add/drop/withdrawals. They can be reached in the main office at (916) 433-2960.
SCHEDULE CHANGES AND ADD/DROP DEADLINES
All schedule change requests must go through the counselor/administration and may be approved on a case by case basis. Schedule changes only occur during the first 2 weeks of the semester. After this time period, if there are extenuating circumstances, approval to change courses must be approved by an administrator. We will NOT approve schedule changes for students who are trying to avoid an F in a course. The deadline for administrator approved schedule changes is the end of the first quarter of each semester. If you attempt to drop a class after the end of the first quarter of each semester, you will receive a grade F for the course.
HONORS AND AP COURSES
To enroll into an AP course or Honors course, you must have scored either Proficient or Advanced in that subject area on the prior year’s CST exam. If there is an excess of students registering for the course, priority will then be given to the students who scored Proficient or Advanced AND a B or better in the prior year’s academic subject course (ranked by highest to lowest grade). Registration for AP and Honors courses takes place with the school counselor, Ms. Hill, and/or administration. There is a required fee for the AP test.
